I recently became a big fan of the NPR (National Public Radio) shows
"Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" and "Car Talk". This spring, I started to think
about how my choice to listen to these shows for two hours during the week
and my choice to become a lakefront owner on Watchic Lake has some
similarities and some differences.

Unlike the Watchic Lake Association, NPR receives some funding through
corporations, local and state government and foundations. Similar, to
some extent to the Watchic Lake Association, NPR's contributions from
listeners have been their largest source of revenue for many years.

Not for two hours per week, but for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year,
Watchic Lake property owners reap the benefits from dedicated group of
volunteer board members who meet several times a year to fulfill the
Mission of the Watchic Lake Association: To protect and improve the
ecosystem of the Watchic Lake watershed. Our vision is to be recognized as
a leader in proactive Lake Association oversight and execution.

Whether it is from the work of the Dam committee, Education committee,
Water Quality committee or board members handling emergencies, we have
benefitted from the work of these volunteers. We all made a decision to
live on Watchic Lake. I have been a lakefront owner and WLA member since
only 2002, but I believe that paying the $25 annual membership dues is the
right thing to do and is my responsibility as a property owner. I hope
that you will carefully consider joining the Watchic Lake Association in
2011.

Help protect our beautiful lake, its wildlife, and its vulnerable ecosystem and environment. Participation in the WLA supports efforts to maintain our pristine lake, celebrate with neighbors at social events, and make positive social change. There are several ways for you to participate:

Lake property ownership:

1. Regular Membership: $25.00/year

2. Lifetime Members: $250.00 (One time only fee)

3. Business Entity Members (with deeded lake access): $25.00/year

NOTE: Voting rights are limited to the categories 1-3 above. However, in no event shall there be more than two per property and multiple property owners will be restricted to two votes.

4. Friends of Watchic Lake / Associate Members: $25.00 each/year

5. Business Entity Members (without deeded lake access): $25.00 each/year

6. Junior Members (ages 6-18): $ 5.00 each/year (Certificates will be presented at annual WLA meeting)
