WLA Annual Meeting & Social
July 9, 2011 at Kiwanis Beach

The 2011 Watchic Lake Annual Meeting & Social  was held on July 9th at Kiwanis Beach.  Over 40 members attended the meeting to hear updates on the Dam Reconstruction project, Lake Quality, 113 Remediation Efforts, Capital Fund Drive, Membership, Treasurer's report, and vote in the new Board of Directors.

The following is a brief summary of events;

113 Project/Capital Fund Drive
Steve Center presented an overview of the Route 113 Project, giving background and reasoning behind the project, including how the WLA mission supports the work. He indicated that there have been setbacks, but that we have overcome them and expect to complete the project this summer. However, we do not have enough money to get this done, at this point. Once the bids are in, we will address the gap.

Steve gave an update on the CFD, including background, goals, and activities that have taken place. The second phase is now underway. Steve passed out a the green sheet supporting Phase II, described the points on the sheet, and asked attendees to help boost the CFD in their neighborhoods. He finished by describing an investment mindset which supports maintaining shorefront property values by strong lake stewardship.
Treasurer’s Report
Bob Joslyn presented a perspective on the WLA financials. He then moved to present the fiscal 2010 financial picture, indicating that supporting documents were available to review on a side table. Treasurer’s report will be uploaded to the website soon. Patty Guenthner thanked Bob for his many years of service (11) as Treasurer.
Water Quality
Eben Joslyn discussed water testing results. He noted the rainy spring caused some diminution in results. Testing has been on par with previous years. Eban gave praise to those property owners who are taking steps to steward their properties and asked for others to join in. The Lake Quality Report will be updated to the website soon.
